Rule Update | September 6, 2014
In effect starting Fall 2014
In the Upper Playfield conference, the home team will decide whether or not extra balls are played. If extra balls are chosen, then only one extra ball, per player, per game, may be played. Extra balls are always played in the Lower Playfield conference. 5-ball games are an exception in both conferences, as extra balls are never played on 5-ball machines. Also, extra balls are never played in tie-breaker games in either conference.
When an extra ball is NOT played, the player who receives an extra ball must simply plunge the ball and step away. While players may finesse the plunge for the sake of a Skill Shot, the flipper buttons may not be pressed, and the machine may not be moved while the ball is in play. If, while draining an extra ball, a player hits the flipper buttons or moves the machine, intentionally or otherwise, then that players TOTAL SCORE is forfeited. In Doubles games, it means the individual player’s score will not be tallied in the total. In Singles games, it means the entire game is forfeited.
