Creek and Cave
10-93 Jackson Avenue
Long Island City, New York 11101
Greg Poverelli and Anna Wolk as tournament organizers, with the help of Allen Cihak and the owner Rebecca, will bring you a great day of competitive pinball at The Creek and The Cave. The bar and pinball area open at 12 PM for practice, great food and perhaps a few drinks to loosen up. The tournament will start at 1:00 PM sharp.
IMPORTANT: registration will be cut off at 32 players due to the size of the room and limited number of machines. We will also start promptly at 1pm so we suggest arriving early to sign up and practice!
There will be an IFPA ranked Main Tournament and, if time permits and players show interest, an unofficial non ranked side tournament: format TBD.
No extra balls will be played in either the main or the side tournament.
6 rounds of Match Play played in 4 person groups cut to playoffs. A few 3 person groups may be used based on the number of participants.
The games will be randomized each round, and the groups will be determined by seeding by Brackelope software.
In the case of a 3 person group:
At the end of 6 qualifying rounds we will have a 20 minute break, and then a cut to top 8 playoff spots based on final scores in points. If there are 24 entrances we will cut to top 12, and if there are 32 entrances we will cut to top 16.
In the case of a tie at the end of the qualifying rounds, there will be a tie breaker game on a randomly determined machine to determine seeding. (If 3 or 4 players are tied in points they will all play together on a single game and their scores from highest to lowest will determine seeding)
The Playoffs will be Knockout Style with 2 strikes. Matches will be determined by seeding, whereas 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5. The highest seeded player gets to pick the game for their match each round, and a player will not be able to pick the same game a second time in the playoffs.
Players with no strikes play each their match best 2 out of 3 games on the same machine. If a match consists of two players with 1 strike (facing elimination) they will play only one game. Players will battle it out in the playoffs until there is a winner!
