The newly outfitted Fifth Estate is putting together a Match-Play Tournament (similar to Pinburgh) this Sunday. It’s a $5 buy-in and 24 person cap. Players will be divided into (mostly) random pools of four each and will play all four games at the bar against each other.
Scoring goes as follows, for each machine (Lord of the Rings, Funhouse, Scared Stiff, and No Fear):
1st Place – 3 points
2nd Place – 2 points
3rd Place – 1 point
4th Place – 0 points
After all six groups of four have played all matches, the twelve players with the highest point totals move into “A-Brackets,” weighed accordingly via points. For instance:
A1 A2 A3
#1 seed #2 seed #3 seed
#6 seed #5 seed #4 seed
#7 seed #8 seed #9 seed
#12 seed #11 seed #10 seed
The bottom twelve players enter “B-Brackets” weighed in the same fashion. Each of these pools will play the same way as before, all four games against each other.
First place in each of the six pools will then break off into an “A Final” and a “B Final” with three players in each Final. The three players in each Final pool will face off against each other on all four games. In the end, there will be an “A Winner” and a “B Winner.”
Prizes will be divided along the following lines (and amounts if 24 people signed up at $5 a person for $120 prize pool):
A-Winner: 40% ($48)
B-Winner: 30% ($36)
A-2nd Pl: 20% ($24)
B-2nd Pl: 10% ($12)
A-3rd: Free round on bar.
B-3rd: Free round on bar.
Everyone participating has a pretty good shot at winning something!
