RESCHEDULED. Due to the nasty Polar Vortex, the Wednesday, January 22nd event has been pushed back one week.
The New York City Flipper Sport Association is hosting three nights of Pin-Golf to keep in shape over the winter break. The dates are three Wednesdays: January 8th, 22nd and February 5th 2014. All players are welcome. We are using an abbreviated, 4-stroke maximum format to keep things moving over nine pin-holes. There is a 5 dollar entry fee with a 100% payout to the 1-2-3rd place finishers.
NYCFSA Pin-Golf takes place at reciprocal skateboards and starts at 8 pm sharp. Registration begins at 7 pm and is limited to the first 20 registrants. It is an IFPA recognized event and the results will be uploaded into the world rankings.
NYCFSA plays Pin-Golf at reciprocal skateboards. There is a 5 dollar entry fee with a 100% payout to the three winners. All players pay for their own games during the match. Tee off time is 8:00 pm sharp. Sign-in begins at 7:00 pm. This event is limited to the first 20 participants to sign in. Late arrivals will be admitted at a penalty (see below 1). These are stand-alone events and the winners will be a decided at the end each match.
Each player plays for a target score (e.g. 15M on Fish Tales). The number of balls played to reach the target score will be counted as “strokes” (e.g. If a player scores 15M or higher on Fish Tales in one ball that would be a hole-in-one and the player?s score would be one for that hole). The goal is to finish the 9-hole course in the fewest strokes. At the end of 9 holes payout is determined.
Groupings will be determined by the organizer. Players will play in groups of two or more players. All groups will be roughly equal size groups so we all finish around the same time. The playing order at tee-off is decided by the players within the group. After that, the player with the lowest score chooses their spot in the tee-off order on the following pin-hole. The competitor with the second lowest score chooses next so on. If two or more competitors have the same score at a pin-hole, they will play in the same order as the previous pin-hole.
We will play 9 holes (see below 2). Each game will count as one hole played. The games will be single player. (In the case of two-player groups two-player games may be played.) When the player has reached the target score or finished a 3-ball game, the turn moves to the next player. When a player has reached the target score in less than 3 balls the game is briefly shut-off to reset it for the next player. This will save time. When the group is done at a hole it will move on to the next one.
There is a course maximum of 4 pin-strokes per pin-hole. Should a player not reach the target score after playing 3 balls, record a score of 4. (Play 5 balls in 5-ball games with maximum pin-stroke of 6 for not reaching the target score.)
If a player earns an extra ball, this will not be counted as an additional pin-stroke, but rather as a continuation of the current ball being played.
When a player reaches a target score on the first pin-stroke (a “hole-in-one”) this ball should be played until it is over and the machine score of the first ball is recorded to eliminate the need for tie-breaker matches (see below 3).
Scores are cumulative for the 9 pin-holes. The players who finish the pin-course with the fewest pin-strokes are the winners.
1. Late arriving players may participate with a 1-stroke penalty if they arrive during a hole actively being played (there is still a course maximum of 4 pin-strokes per pin-hole) and for any missed holes a late arriving participant will get a score of 4 for each missed hole.
2. (a) If less than 9 machines are available for play, prior to the match participants will select a game(s) to be played multiple times to attain a 9-hole course. (b) Machine failure mid-match: If this occurs, participant determination will have to be made whether a new pin-hole needs to be selected to finish the 9 pin-holes (i.e. it may be that it would be irrelevant to replay the entire pin-hole on a different machine if those who need to complete it have no chance of placing). If it is decided to replay the entire pin-hole on a different machine, the player(s) with the best score on the cancelled pin-hole selects the new game. In the case disagreement then a coin toss (or other appropriate lot method) will be done and the winner selects the new game
3. (a) If there are ties, the player with the most “holes-in-one” will place higher. If “holes-in-one”, too, are tied then the player with the most high scores for the “holes-in-one” will win. (b) If most high scores, too, is tied then the winner will be determined by head-to-head “hole-in-one” scores. (c) In the case there are still ties then a coin toss (or other appropriate lot method) will be done and the winner selects the machine and playing order for a single tie-breaker match for high score.
