This is a FREE ENTRY tournament. NYCFSA plays Pin-Golf at reciprocal skateboards with the cooperation of Jon and Francesco.
NYCFSA Winter Pin-Golf 2015 is a goal-oriented pin-golf style competition. Some sample ideas for goals are:
The idea is to accomplish these goals with the fewest balls possible and finish the course with the fewest pin-strokes. If you are unclear as to how to accomplish the goal, don’t worry, coaching is encouraged. Goals may vary from week to week and number of holes played, game rulings etc. are left to the discretion of the organizer. This event is listed on the IFPA calendar and all participants will earn WPPR points.
Sign-in begins at 7:00 pm and Tee–off time is 7:30 pm (see below 1) for the following Monday dates:
Sign-in begins at 4:30 pm and Tee–off time is 5:00 pm for the following Saturday date:
This is a cumulative scoring event adding together the points based on a 100 point scale for each of the five dates. (See below 2)
Groupings will be determined by the organizer. Players will play in groups of two or more players. All groups will be roughly equal size groups so we all finish around the same time. The playing order at tee-off is decided by the players within the group. After that, the player with the lowest score choses their spot in the tee-off order on the following pin-hole. The competitor with the second lowest score choses next so on. If two or more competitors have the same score at a pin-hole, they will play in the same order as the previous pin-hole. (Alternatively, groups can decide their own playing order.)
We will attempt to play for nine goals (see below 3). Each goal will count as one hole played. Some of the single games will have multiple goals to accomplish over the course of the game. The games will be single player except two-player groups then two-player games may be played. When the player has accomplished their goal or finished a 3-ball game, the turn moves to the next player. When a player has accomplished their goal in less than 3 balls, the game is briefly shut-off to reset it for the next player. This will save time. When the group is done at a hole, it will move on to the next one.
There is a course maximum of 4 pin-strokes per pin-hole. Should a player not accomplish their goal(s) after playing 3 balls, record a score of 4 for each missed goal. (Play 5 balls in 5-ball games with maximum pin-stroke of 6 for not reaching the target score.)
If a player earns an extra ball, this will NOT be counted as an additional pin-stroke, but rather as a continuation of the current ball being played. Scores are cumulative for the 9 pin-holes.
1. Players will be admitted 30 minutes after tee-off with no penalty. Late arrivals will be admitted with a penalty: Late arriving players may participate with a 1-stroke penalty if they arrive during a hole actively being played (there is still a course maximum of 4 pin-strokes per pin-hole), and for any missed holes a late arriving participant will get a score of 4 for each missed hole.
2. 1st place =100 points, 2nd place=90 points, 3rd place=85 points, 4th place=84 points 5th place=83 points, and so on for each event. The points will be added together at the end of the five events and the overall winner will be determined with a cumulative score. (e.g. The maximum score would be 500 points.)
3. (a) If less than 9 machines are available for play, prior to the match the organizer will select a game(s) to have multiple goals to attain a 9-hole course. (b) Machine failure mid-match: If this occurs, a determination will have to be made whether to cancel the pin-hole on all score cards or select a new pin-hole to finish the 9 pin-holes. If it is decided to replay the entire pin-hole on a different machine, the player(s) with the best score on the cancelled pin-hole selects the new game. In the case disagreement, then a coin toss (or other appropriate lot method) will be done and the winner selects the new game.
4. (a) If there are ties, the player with the highest Snack Attack score in the fewest pin-strokes will win. (b) If there are still ties then, a coin toss (or other appropriate lot method) will be done and the winner selects the machine and playing order for a single tie-breaker match for high score (no extra balls are played).
