Coaching and COVID Rule Update

COVID-19

In an effort to alleviate concerns about participating in the league while the pandemic is still a factor, the following rules have been put in place in section VII. Other Notes:

E. COVID-19

1. 1. For the health and safety of everyone, Pinball NYC will follow the city’s vaccination mandate in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. So long as this mandate is in place, so too will be the following rules:
      1. All active players in the league must have proof of at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine in order to participate.
         1. If an non-vaccinated player participates in a match, then that player’s team will forfeit the match, receive zero match points, and the opposing team will win and receive 12 match points.
      2. If an away-team visits a bar for a match, and that bar is not checking for proof of vaccination, then the away-team may refuse to enter the bar and play the match without penalty.
         1. If, as a result of the bar’s lax enforcement of the vaccination mandate, less than four of the visiting team’s players agree to enter the bar, then the visiting team will be awarded a win of 12-0.
         2. If four or more players from the visiting team agree to enter the bar regardless, then the match must proceed as normal.

Coaching & Assisting

It has been brought to my attention that there was a bit of a hole in the rules concerning physically assisting teammates during game play. As such, the following language has been added to section VII. Other Notes:

B. Coaching & Assisting

1. 1. Players are allowed to verbally coach their teammates during game play.
   2. Players are NOT allowed to physically assist their teammates during game play.
      1. If a player not involved in game play does something physically that might affect a teammate’s score of a game in play (i.e. hit a button or nudge a machine), then the affected teammate’s ENTIRE score is disqualified.
         1. In a two player game this results in an automatic win for the opponent
         2. In a four player game, the game will continue, but the outcome will be determined without the inclusion of the disqualified player’s score.
