Announcement | November 18, 2011
The final week of the Fall 2011 season is upon us, and the playoff picture is coming into focus. In the A Division, the top two teams are set, while the other two playoff spots are up for grabs. The BQE Flipperheads are in 1st place with a seven point margin on the second place Sofa King Suite. The next 3 teams all share the same record, but only two will make the playoffs.
The 4 playoff teams are set for the B Division, but the final week may have an impact on who gets home field advantage. The Usual Suspects and The Casserollers are currently on top, but if The Cartel can pull off some magic on Monday night and/or the Casserollers stumble, then there could be a shakeup in the standings.
All standings are determined by the following set of guidelines, in the following order:
In the unlikely event that all things are equal for the first 4 tiebreaker scenarios, then the two teams will meet for a single match at a NEUTRAL location prior to round one of the playoffs. Remember, final standings determine which teams play and where they play in the first round of the playoffs.
Week 10 is the final week that high scores will be recorded. If there are any high scores that have not been reported to me, then please do so before Thanksgiving. After that, no scores may be submitted. Check the League Standings page to find a list of all reported high scores. Playoff high scores do NOT count.
Extra balls will not be played, in either division, during the playoffs.
As of 8PM Saturday, November 19th, all rosters are locked throughout the end of the playoffs. Remember, if a roster player attends a playoff match, then that player MUST play. There are no exceptions.
Round 1 will take place on Monday, December 5th (there are no matches on November 28th). The number 1 seed will play at home against the number 4 seed. Similarly, #2 will play at home against #3.
Round 2 will take place on Monday, December 12th and Wednesday, December 14th. The winners from the first round will compete at a neutral location for the championship. Assuming that the Satellite Lounge team, Bumper? Hardly Knew Her! does NOT make the finals (big assumption), then the B finals will be Monday at a location TBD, and the A finals will be on Wednesday at the Satellite Lounge. Should the Satellite Lounge team make the finals, then the dates would be swapped. Either case, the Wednesday finals will take place at the Satellite Lounge, because…
On Wednesday, December 14th there will be party coinciding with the final playoff match at Satellite Lounge in Williamsburg. 4 machines will be randomly set aside for match play, and the rest will be open for the party in general. Immediately following the match the trophies will be handed out and the photos will be taken. League trophies will be given to the winners of each division. These trophies will sit at the team’s home bar until another team can claim it in a future season. Prizes will also be given out to the individual players of the top 2 teams in each division. Finally, there will be awards given to the individuals who recorded high scores on each of the machines in the league during the season. Each time we do this, I try to raise the bar a little — this season will be no exception!
