Rule Update | October 8, 2014
The following language has been added to the rules to deal with those rare occasions when a machine fails during game play and a new machine must be chosen:
If a machine fails in the middle of game play and the teams are forced to choose a new machine to play on, then the team that originally chose that machine is entitled to choose the replacement machine. In addition, as the two teams presumably chose their player lineup based on the machine that was chosen, both teams are entitled to change their lineup to reflect the newly chosen machine. However, teams are only allowed to make changes to the game(s) in that round that include the broken machine. ALL other game lineups for that round must remain unchanged. Furthermore, lineup changes are ONLY allowed if they do not violate any other rules. That is to say, a team may not switch their lineup if it means that a Starter will not meet his/her minimum playing requirements, nor may they duplicate a pairing in the Double’s round.
