Rule Update | December 1, 2014
While much of this may seem like common sense, the following is now formally a part of the rules.
If a machine misbehaves during a match game, and this misbehavior does NOT affect all of the players involved in the game, then the game must continue and the affected player(s) will have the OPTION to replay their game afterwards. For instance, if a ball gets stuck in the playfield during player three’s game in a round of doubles, and Tilting the machine is the only way to dislodge the ball, then, once the ball is freed, players one, two, and four MUST play out the remaining portion of their game. AFTER the game is over, player three will have the option to replay his/her game, alone, and record a new score. Unaffected players may NOT replay their game.
Slam Tilts, or violent Tilts that cause a pinball machine to force the end of an entire game, automatically result in a game (not match) loss for the offending player’s team. While this rule is enforced regardless of the machine’s sensitivity to such offenses, the violence toward a machine that Slam Tilts are designed to discourage is extremely frowned upon by the league. Therefore, those players found to repeatedly Slam Tilt machines may be disciplined.
Every player involved in a match game must be fully aware of whose turn it is. Should one player launch and play another player’s ball, intentionally or otherwise, then he or she is “playing out of turn.” Doing so will result in the automatic disqualification of the offending player’s ENTIRE score in the game being played. Furthermore, the player whose turn was affected, will have the OPTION to replay his/her entire game as a result. As this penalty is harsh, players are strongly urged to be mindful of ball saves, extra balls, and the highlighted score on the scoreboard.
