Announcement | January 7, 2016
On December 16th of 2015 the Pinball NYC community gathered at Jackbar to crown the league champs and hand out the trophies. This season the newly formed Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers decisively beat Chillers Only to claim the Lower Playfield “Iron Claw” trophy and the their gold medals. This marks the second time that a team has won it all in their first season of play, with Factory of Sadness first claiming that honor several seasons ago.
In the Upper Playfield, the Terrorwrists were celebrating their reclaiming of the trophy at home after beating Flipped Out in the final game of their Championship match. The match, played at Pioneers Bar in Manhattan, came down to the final ball of the final round which was played on Game of Thrones — I couldn’t have scripted it any better!
This season the winners received a bounty of prizes generously donated to the league by our various sponsors and supporters. Special thanks go out to the Silverball Museum who, once again, donated all day passes for each member of the first and second place teams in the Lower Playfield. This pinball paradise, located in nearby Asbury Park, NJ, has been a supporter of our league since its inception, and we are forever grateful. Special thanks also go out to Modern Pinball NYC who donated passes to their Manhattan pinball palace to our Upper Playfield winners and first runner ups. Modern is a class act. For the first time, Rockaway Brewery Company got into the mix by donating pint tickets to our Upper Playfield champs. The tickets are good for a free pint of their delicious beer at their tasting room in Long Island City. While there, why not enjoy the pinball machine they have on hand? Finally, I must thank Jon and Jackbar, for not only did they host a great party, but they also donated a $50 bar tab to our Lower Playfield winners. Let’s all show these fine supporters our love — pay a visit and tell them Pinball NYC sent you.
Of course the evening wasn’t all about handing out prizes. There were plenty of good people and good pinball on hand. Thanks to our buddies Greg and Dom we also had a nice impromptu tournament that was a blast for those involved. The evening was a fine closing to another great season, and a fine start to the Holidays. Season 12 starts in February — stay tuned!
